An Effurun High Court in Delta State has ordered the 14-day remand of Reuben Izeze, the Commissioner for Works, Highway and Urban Roads. This legal action stems from accusations that he participated in the assault of Temple Mudi, who serves as a Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Governor Oborevwori responded to the court’s decision by immediately suspending the commissioner from his official duties. Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, the Secretary to the State Government, confirmed the suspension in a formal announcement.
The governor’s office stated that the suspension serves to ensure an impartial investigation by law enforcement into the incident, which reportedly took place at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area. The administration emphasized its dedication to preserving public order and safety, noting that these principles apply universally, even when government officials are implicated in criminal allegations.
