Delta Police Detain Content Creator Following Sexual Assault and Death of Young Woman

Delta State police have arrested content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna after a 20-year-old woman accused him of sexual assault before her untimely death.

Authorities in Delta State have taken 40-year-old social media personality Ifeanyi Ogbonna, also known as Odogwu of Asaaba, into custody. He is accused of sexually assaulting 20-year-old Favour Agbro, who passed away after consuming a poisonous substance.

SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the state police, explained that the investigation began after a formal complaint was filed. The report stated that Agbro traveled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Ogbonna promised to mentor her in content creation and offer financial aid.

Investigators claim the suspect lured the victim to a hotel room where he committed the assault and physically harmed her. Following the incident, Agbro returned to her family in an emotional state and recorded a video describing the trauma. She eventually died after ingesting a toxic substance, and her recorded testimony later gained significant attention online.

This arrest follows a recent controversy involving Ogbonna, who had been criticized for social media posts targeting women. Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi ordered the Effurun Area Command to handle the case immediately. While the suspect has provided initial statements, police officials have vowed to conduct a rigorous and transparent investigation to ensure justice is served.
