Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has distributed financial relief to residents affected by recent deadly floods and landslides in Calabar.

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has distributed financial aid to those impacted by the severe flooding and landslides that recently struck Calabar. The relentless rainfall, which occurred over several days, caused significant destruction to property and resulted in the loss of lives.

This relief effort highlights the state government’s dedication to assisting citizens during times of crisis. The governor, represented by his Special Assistant on Special Duties, Akiba Ekpenyong, noted that while financial support cannot replace lost loved ones, it serves as an immediate effort to provide comfort and acknowledge the families’ suffering.

Key recipients included Kingsley Etim, who lost four children in an Ikot Anwatim landslide, as well as the families of Sunday Jennifer and Chinonso Dominic, both of whom lost relatives to the rising floodwaters. These families expressed gratitude for the government’s assistance and the continued support provided by the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency.

Governor Otu emphasized that the administration remains committed to helping disaster victims while implementing better safety measures to protect citizens and their property throughout Cross River State.
