LASEMA Refutes Claims of Additional Building Collapse in Lagos

LASEMA has officially debunked rumors of a second building collapse in Alakija, Lagos, after an on-site investigation found no such incident occurred.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has officially labeled social media claims regarding a secondary building collapse in the Alakija neighborhood as entirely false. Following the emergence of these reports, the agency launched an immediate investigation into the area.

Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed that a thorough inspection of the site provided no proof that such an incident took place. He cautioned citizens against the dangers of spreading unverified information online, noting that such misinformation can hinder the effectiveness of rescue operations by wasting limited resources.

The agency stressed the importance of relying on official channels for incident reports to ensure emergency teams can prioritize genuine threats to public safety. Under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, LASEMA continues to emphasize its dedication to maintaining professional and efficient emergency response services for the protection of all residents.
