Nigerian entertainer Chukwuebuka Amuzie, widely recognized as Brain Jotter, recently spoke out regarding an incident where he was allegedly targeted by local hoodlums while driving in Lagos. He posted footage on Instagram depicting a group of men blocking his path and demanding payment to let him pass. In his post, the comedian expressed deep frustration, likening the perpetrators to wild animals.
This event highlights a growing trend of extortion and intimidation involving area boys in the city. Recently, other notable figures have faced similar challenges. Saltiana, the sister of singer Ayra Starr, reported that her car was damaged by individuals who mistook her for the performer after she declined their demands for money. Additionally, medical practitioner Olusina Ajidahun and music video director TG Omori have shared their own troubling encounters with similar groups in Lagos.
In response to these frequent reports, Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stated that authorities are working to remove street urchins from public spaces. He cautioned that when citizens or celebrities give money to these groups, it inadvertently justifies their illegal activities. The Commissioner requested public support in the government’s push to restore order and safety across the state.
