The Court of Arbitration for Sport has scheduled a hearing regarding Senegal’s challenge to the decision to revoke their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations championship. Following the final in January, which Senegal won 1-0, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) voided the result, declaring host nation Morocco the winners instead.
The controversy stemmed from Senegal’s protest during the match, which included a walk-off after Morocco was granted a stoppage-time penalty. Although play eventually resumed and Senegal secured a win through a goal by Pape Gueye, Caf later ruled that Senegal had forfeited the contest and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory.
Senegal filed an appeal with Cas on 25 March, requesting that the initial result be upheld. Because the Confederation of African Football and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation declined to fast-track the legal process, the matter is proceeding on a standard timeline. The hearing is set for 8 October at the Cas headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, and will be held in private.
A final verdict will not be issued on the day of the hearing, and the timeline for the official announcement remains uncertain.
