The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared that the successful liberation of pupils and teachers kidnapped in Oyo State’s Oriire Local Government Area serves as only a partial victory. CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh emphasized that true jubilation is impossible until every citizen held by criminal groups is brought back to safety.
Reflecting on the 56-day ordeal, Archbishop Okoh expressed gratitude for the safe return of the victims and acknowledged the emotional toll of such captivity. While celebrating this outcome, he reminded the nation that numerous families in regions like Borno and Niger continue to wait for their relatives to be released.
The association extended appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, security agencies, and local security outfits like Amotekun for their coordinated rescue efforts. Archbishop Okoh highlighted that this success underscores the value of intelligence-driven operations and inter-agency cooperation.
Furthermore, CAN praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his sustained support of the victims and their families. The organization concluded by urging the public to maintain focus on those still missing, advocating for equal concern for every Nigerian life regardless of religious or ethnic background. They called on citizens to remain steadfast in prayer and support for security forces working to secure the nation.
