Lawal Hamisu, a businessman, appeared before a Shari’a Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, on Tuesday to request that his ex-wife, Maman Muhammad, vacate his residence. His legal representative, H.B. Debo, explained that although Hamisu had issued three divorce pronouncements, he initially permitted Muhammad to remain in the home to oversee the upbringing of their children.
Hamisu alleged that his former wife has negatively influenced their children against him, leading to a loss of respect and daily household conflicts. He stated that his eldest child has even physically confronted him. His primary goal is to have the property vacated so he can move his ill mother into the home to provide her with necessary care.
In response, Muhammad informed the court that she has no alternative housing options. As an orphan with a three-year-old daughter, she requested that the court direct her former husband to provide alternative accommodation. Judge Malam Yakubu Abdullahi has postponed the matter until August 3 to deliver a ruling.
