Craig Bellamy is currently engaged in significant talks to become the new head coach of Burnley. The Championship club has contacted the Football Association of Wales regarding the 46-year-old as a potential replacement for Scott Parker. While a finalized contract has not yet been signed, negotiations have gathered considerable momentum over the past 48 hours.
Previously, it appeared that Bellamy was committed to leading Wales through the 2028 European Championships, which will be hosted in the UK and Ireland. However, the former Liverpool and Manchester City winger is now actively considering an exit from his current national team role. Burnley is prepared to trigger the compensation clause within his existing contract to secure his services.
A move to Turf Moor would mark a return for Bellamy, who previously served as an assistant to Vincent Kompany at the club. Although Bellamy recently expressed gratitude for his position with Wales, citing the opportunity given to him in 2024, the allure of the Burnley vacancy has clearly grown. Should he depart, the FAW may turn to candidates such as Steve Cooper or Rob Edwards to fill the void.
