Brentford Elevates Super Eagles Defender Benjamin Fredrick to First Team with New Four-Year Deal

Benjamin Fredrick has signed a new four-year contract with Brentford, securing a promotion to the Premier League side’s first team.

Nigerian international Benjamin Fredrick has committed his future to Brentford by signing a four-year contract, which includes an additional one-year option. The 21-year-old defender has officially moved into the Premier League club’s senior setup for the 2026/27 campaign following a successful progression through the B team and a loan period at the Belgian club FCV Dender.

Head coach Keith Andrews praised Fredrick’s development, noting his international experience with Nigeria during their World Cup qualification matches. Andrews highlighted that the club’s immediate focus is helping the defender fully recover from the knee injury that curtailed his time in Belgium before incorporating him into the primary roster.

A graduate of the Simoiben Football Academy, Fredrick previously played for Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC and Nasarawa United. After joining Brentford on loan in 2023, his standout performance earned him a permanent transfer in 2024 and the B team’s Players’ Player of the Year award. Fredrick, who debuted for the Super Eagles in the Unity Cup and started several vital World Cup qualifiers, expressed pride in his new contract. He credited his growth to the support of the coaching staff, including Neil MacFarlane, and stated that his primary goal is to secure playing time in the Premier League.
