Following the conclusion of the 2025/2026 season, the Bauchi State Government has officially disbanded the Wikki Tourist Football Club management team. This action follows the club’s unsuccessful fight against relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League to the Nigeria National League.
Governor Bala Mohammed sanctioned the immediate removal of the committee after an assessment of the team’s lackluster performance, despite significant state investments aimed at securing their top-flight status. Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor’s media aide, announced the decision on Thursday, noting that the state hopes to restore public trust and reorganize the club’s operations to facilitate a swift return to the elite division.
During the final weeks of the season, the administration even introduced a specialized rescue team to bolster existing management, but those efforts ultimately proved insufficient. To fill the leadership void, Governor Mohammed has appointed Alhaji Haruna Bako, the former State Director of Sports, as the Interim Sole Administrator.
Bako is tasked with taking charge of all club assets, liabilities, and records while preparing the squad for a competitive season in the second tier. While the government expressed gratitude to the former committee, led by Salmanu Abubakar, it remains focused on the long-term goal of returning the club to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
