Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman, the Emir of Bade in Yobe State, directed a special rain-seeking prayer ceremony on Sunday. Joined by Islamic scholars, community leaders, and local residents, the gathering appealed for divine intervention to end the recent drought and ensure a successful harvest.
Participants offered supplications for agricultural productivity and general prosperity across the region. During the proceedings, the Emir encouraged his constituents to commit to prayer, repentance, and unity as a means to seek favor and protection from the Almighty.
Yobe State is currently experiencing an extended period without significant rainfall, creating anxiety among the local farming community. Key crops such as millet, maize, and sorghum are struggling to thrive, leading to fears of low yields. Agricultural specialists have cautioned that a continued absence of rain could trigger widespread food insecurity and significant economic distress for families reliant on subsistence farming.
