Authorities in Thailand have taken Simon Peter Carman into custody following the death of a 17-year-old girl. Her body was discovered inside a suitcase abandoned near railway tracks in the coastal city of Pattaya.
Police apprehended Carman early Saturday morning at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. Investigators believe he was attempting to depart the country. According to reports, security camera footage showed Carman entering a condominium building with the teenager, identified as Tunchanok Donhomla, before leaving by himself with a large suitcase. He was allegedly seen placing the luggage onto a motorcycle and heading toward the train tracks.
Carman faces murder charges, along with allegations of concealing a body and abducting a minor for sexual purposes. He has denied the accusations, asserting that he acted in self-defense. In a statement recorded while in police custody, he expressed remorse to the victim’s family, describing the incident as being out of his control. The victim’s family has expressed deep sorrow and is calling for justice to be served.
