Asylum seeker sentenced to prison for grooming and raping 13-year-old girl

Abdul Khan has been sentenced to nine and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl after grooming her online.

A man seeking asylum has been imprisoned for raping a 13-year-old girl after initially deceiving her by posing as a teenager on the Snapchat platform. Abdul Khan committed the assault within a nature reserve located in Clifton, Nottingham, on May 14 of last year.

During proceedings at Nottingham Crown Court, it was revealed that Khan entered the United Kingdom hidden inside a lorry in 2015. He is expected to face mandatory deportation to Afghanistan once he completes two-thirds of his prison term. On Monday, a judge sentenced him to nine and a half years behind bars. The conviction included two counts of rape, one count of sexual activity with a minor, sexual communication with a child, meeting a child for the purpose of grooming, and perverting the course of justice.
