Arsenal has formally confirmed the permanent departure of Jakub Kiwior to FC Porto following his recent loan spell with the Portuguese side. The transfer was finalized based on terms agreed upon last summer, involving a fee of £14.7 million along with performance-based bonuses and a sell-on clause. This same agreement structure facilitated Arsenal’s separate acquisition of Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen for £34.5 million, plus additional add-ons.
Kiwior, who arrived at Arsenal from Spezia in early 2023, played 68 times for the club under Mikel Arteta. The defender famously filled in for an injured Gabriel Magalhaes during the 2024/25 campaign, notably featuring in the Champions League quarter-final victory over Real Madrid. Despite his contributions, competition for his position increased significantly due to the arrivals of Riccardo Calafiori and Cristhian Mosquera, as well as the emergence of academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Reflecting on the decision to move, Kiwior shared that he sought a direct conversation with Arteta to discuss his future. He noted that while the initial dialogue was difficult because he had never requested a departure before, the manager was ultimately supportive and understanding of his situation.
