Arokodare makes impactful first appearance for Ajax in Eredivisie opener

Tolu Arokodare recorded an assist in his Ajax debut, helping the team secure a 2-0 win against PEC Zwolle.

Tolu Arokodare marked his first competitive appearance for Ajax by contributing an assist during a 2-0 victory over PEC Zwolle. The Nigerian forward entered the match in the 73rd minute, replacing Abdellah Ouazane.

Just three minutes after stepping onto the pitch, Arokodare delivered the pass for Jorthy Mokio to score the game’s first goal. Julian Brandt later secured the result by adding a second goal in stoppage time, assisted by Mika Godts. Arokodare arrived at Ajax last month on a loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers for the remainder of the season.

Looking ahead, Ajax is scheduled to host Heerenveen in league action this Sunday. Before that fixture, the squad led by manager Míchel Sánchez will head to Dublin to face Shelbourne for the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League third qualifying round. Ajax currently holds a 3-1 advantage from the opening match held at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
