Armed Men Kill Hairstylist in Lagos
A professional hairstylist, identified as Sebastine Timothy, was reportedly shot dead by suspected armed robbers in the Satellite Town area of Lagos State.
According to a police source who requested anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak publicly, the incident occurred on Sunday night along Olasanoye Street shortly after Timothy returned home from work.
The source explained that the attackers broke into Timothy’s residence, stole his valuables, and transferred an undisclosed sum from his bank account before shooting him in the head. The assailants immediately fled the area, while neighbors, alerted by gunshots, later discovered his body.
An online platform known for reporting cult-related incidents, Confra Naija, alleged that the killing was linked to a cult clash. The outlet claimed that members of the Eiye confraternity had targeted Timothy’s brother—believed to belong to the rival Aye group—but killed the hairstylist when they couldn’t find their intended target.
According to the post, the assailants forced Timothy to unlock his phone, made him transfer money to them, seized his phone, and then shot him.
However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, offered a slightly different account when contacted on Wednesday. She said Timothy sustained a fatal head injury during a confrontation with unidentified individuals, adding that the exact cause—whether from a gunshot or machete wound—was yet to be confirmed.
“He sustained a head injury and died on the way to the hospital. The family reported the incident to the police before taking his body to the mortuary,” Adebisi said.
