APC Official Compares PFIPC Fraud to 9/11 in Defense of Presidency

APC chieftain Dr. Taofiq Raimi defends the Presidency against allegations regarding the PFIPC fraud, arguing that sophisticated criminal operations can successfully deceive even the most advanced nations.

Dr. Taofiq Raimi, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress, has stepped forward to defend the administration regarding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council scandal. He argues that high-level criminal schemes can emerge in any nation, comparing the incident to the September 11 attacks in the United States to illustrate his point.

During an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time this past Friday, Raimi asserted that linking the fraudulent council directly to a presidential failure is unjust. He emphasized that even the most developed countries occasionally struggle to prevent elaborate criminal deception. He noted that sophisticated crimes are often so well-orchestrated that they leave observers questioning how such events could possibly occur.

The controversy stems from the actions of Adeyemi Adeniyi Matthew, an individual accused of falsely claiming to be the Director-General of a government body that does not exist. While the Presidency has officially clarified that the council is a fabrication and that Adeyemi is currently facing legal action, various political actors continue to debate the accountability and oversight lapses that allowed the situation to escalate.
