Anambra Police Refute Claims of Items Dropped from Helicopter

Anambra police have declared reports of a helicopter dropping suspicious items in the Nimo and Adazi Nnukwu areas to be false, urging residents to ignore rumors.

The Anambra State Police Command has calmed public concerns regarding rumors that a military helicopter released mysterious objects into the forest between Nimo and Adazi Nnukwu. Authorities confirm that their investigation revealed no evidence to support these claims.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga noted that officers were sent to the site immediately after the reports surfaced. Their inspection confirmed that the location is secure and that typical daily life remains uninterrupted. He clarified that the reports were unfounded and warned against circulating information that could spark public alarm.

Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu emphasized that residents should verify security claims before sharing them, as misinformation damages public trust. The command remains dedicated to maintaining safety through intelligence-based operations and active surveillance across the state. He encouraged citizens to report genuine threats to the police directly rather than relying on unverified rumors.
