Deyemi Saka, a policy analyst, has downplayed public apprehension regarding President Bola Tinubu’s choice to provide only his university credentials on his nomination forms for the upcoming 2027 presidential race. Saka addressed the matter during an appearance on Arise Television this Sunday, responding to the ongoing discussion surrounding Tinubu’s EC9 filing released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Public discourse arose after the President’s submitted documentation revealed that he only declared his 1979 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Chicago State University, leaving the primary and secondary education fields empty. Saka argued that the situation warrants no alarm because the President has satisfied the legal criteria necessary to run for office.
Saka emphasized that the degree in question has been verified as authentic, noting that it is time to shift focus toward more pressing national issues. For the January 16, 2027, election, INEC published candidate documents according to its updated schedule. Tinubu included his Chicago State University degree and his National Youth Service Corps certificate among his submissions. In the same forms, he confirmed his birth details, identified his profession as a politician, and chronicled his career path from his tenure at Mobil Nigeria Limited to his past role as Governor of Lagos State and his current status as President.
