Abuja is preparing for a significant transformation of the Jabi Lake waterfront as Akida Hills begins work on a new leisure and tourism project. The site, set to open in December 2026, will feature West Africa’s first dancing musical fountain alongside various recreational attractions.
Akida Hills has secured a 3.36-hectare plot within the 14-hectare district to create a multi-phase destination. The developer aims to bolster Nigeria’s tourism sector, stimulate local job growth, and provide a unique experience for city residents and visitors. Founder Kayode Bamisile noted that the project is designed to turn Jabi Lake into a premier continental landmark.
The first phase will launch by December 2026, introducing dining options, water activities, seasonal light festivals, and the signature fountain. This centerpiece will use a mix of choreography, lighting, and music to draw crowds. Future phases will build upon this foundation with more amenities. As the construction proceeds, the company plans to release further updates regarding new programming and commercial partnerships.
