The Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), a Joint Task Force initiative, has reportedly neutralized dozens of terrorists gathered for a wedding ceremony at the base of Asola Hills in Yankuzo Ward, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Captain David Adewusi, the Media Information Officer for OPFY, disclosed in a statement that the precision airstrike was launched following reliable intelligence. The targeted group included terrorists from the Faskari and Kankara areas of Katsina State, along with elements from various parts of Zamfara State.

The operation resulted in the deaths of numerous militants, with several others left injured.

In a related development, troops from 1 Brigade under Sector 2 OPFY launched a follow-up ground offensive in the early hours of August 5, 2025. Despite encountering an ambush en route to the area, the soldiers successfully countered the threat.

The statement also noted that four known terrorist collaborators from Kunchin Kalgo village in Tsafe LGA were critically wounded during the operation.
