The representative for renowned Jurassic Park actor Sam Neill has officially stated that the 78-year-old died due to complications from pneumonia. Philip Grenz, who served as Neill’s agent for many years, addressed the public to provide clarity regarding the actor’s passing in Australia on July 13, 2026. While Neill had previously shared his battle with stage-three non-Hodgkin lymphoma in his 2023 memoir, his family confirmed he was cancer-free at the time of his death, having successfully undergone a CAR-T genetic therapy treatment.
Born in Northern Ireland in 1947 before moving to New Zealand, Neill established an iconic career, rising to international fame as Dr. Alan Grant in the 1993 hit Jurassic Park. Beyond his screen work, he was known for managing vineyards in New Zealand’s Central Otago region. Respecting his preference for privacy, his family plans to host a small, private memorial at his farm. According to Grenz, fans can still look forward to seeing the late actor in four upcoming projects that were completed within the last year.
