Award-winning performer Micheal Ward is facing trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court regarding allegations of rape and sexual assault. Prosecutors claim the 28-year-old committed these acts against a woman in a vehicle during 2023, shortly after they met at a London nightclub.

During the opening of the trial on Monday, jurors heard a police interview in which the accuser stated she felt frightened and detached during the encounter, stating she simply wanted the situation to cease. The woman reported meeting Ward at a party, where she felt honored that the well-known actor requested her contact information. She testified that she initially consented to intimate contact in a Mercedes before being invited to a second location, where the alleged offenses took place inside a car.

Ward, recognized for his performances in the series Top Boy and the feature film Blue Story, firmly denies two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault. His defense maintains that all physical interaction between the two individuals was entirely consensual. The actor, a 2020 Bafta Rising Star recipient, entered the courtroom wearing a blue shirt and burgundy tie. He previously stated to law enforcement that he rejects the accusations and insists that any sexual activity was mutual.
