Abuja Court Sets June 30 for Decision on Omoyele Sowore’s Bail Status

Justice Mohammed Umar has scheduled June 30 to decide on Omoyele Sowore’s motion to restore his bail and void an existing arrest warrant.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has set June 30, 2026, as the date to deliver a ruling regarding an application submitted by publisher and activist Omoyele Sowore. The application requests that the court restore his bail and cancel a previous bench warrant issued for his arrest.

Justice Mohammed Umar selected this date following the adoption of arguments presented by the involved legal teams. On June 16, the court had initially revoked Sowore’s bail and directed that he be taken into custody due to his absence during court proceedings related to his ongoing cybercrime and criminal defamation trial.

The Department of State Services is pursuing charges against Sowore, alleging that he labeled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a criminal in several social media posts shared on Facebook and X.
