Abakaliki FC has officially decided to keep 26 players on its roster for the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season. This announcement followed a management meeting, with the club secretary, Barr. Chris Akukwe, confirming the roster update in a formal statement.
Known as the De Rice Boys, the team is set to report to camp on July 25, 2026, consistent with their initial schedule. Preparation for the upcoming league year will officially kick off with training sessions starting on Monday, July 27, 2026. Management has instructed all players to arrive on time to ensure the squad is fully prepared.
The group of retained athletes includes Elochukwu Paschal, Oma Joseph, Onuoha Promise, Alo Friday, Jude Aleke, and Izuchukwu Ogbodo. Furthermore, the club is keeping Uche Promise, Nwankpa Chinedu, Uche Amarachi, Hamzat Sheriff, Joseph Onwuzuruigbo, and Okeke Chinaza. Rounding out the list are Korzer Modester, Udom Chikezie, Onwe Ebuka, Muftaudeen-Abdulganiyu, Nwafor Chigozie, Augustus Dorbarilee, Ugochukwu Ujah, Okpali Chukwujekwu, Micheal Oforkans, Emeka Ugwu, Ifeanyi Ede, Ekuma Ndubuisi, and Kalu Collins.
