Aba Shoemaker Kills Wife and Baby Amid Economic Hardship, Dies in Suspected Revenge Attack
A shoemaker in Aba, Abia State, allegedly murdered his wife and infant child following severe financial struggles that left him unable to provide for his family.
The man, identified as Udokwukwu from Onicha Ngwa in Obingwa LGA but residing in Osisioma, reportedly took his own life a day after the gruesome incident.
According to reports, the tragedy unfolded after Udokwukwu became enraged when his wife, Mary, visited his shop to request money for food—a demand he could not meet. Sources claim he was also upset over allegations of her infidelity.
Witnesses say he returned home with a can of fuel while the family slept, doused their apartment, and set it ablaze, killing Mary and their baby.
The following day, Udokwukwu was found dead, with family members suspecting he was killed in retaliation by unknown persons angered by his actions.
Police have deposited the bodies in a local mortuary, but the Abia State Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
