The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ajao Adewale, officially assumed duty on Wednesday, vowing to enhance security through intelligence-driven and proactive policing.

Adewale succeeds Assistant Inspector General Tunji Disu, who has been redeployed to head the Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters.

During the handover ceremony in Abuja, Adewale praised his predecessor’s leadership and pledged to build on past achievements, ensuring effective service delivery and improved security measures in the nation’s capital.

He reaffirmed his commitment to crime prevention, community engagement, and strategic policing tactics, emphasizing the importance of intelligence gathering and rapid response to security threats.

Residents and stakeholders in Abuja anticipate enhanced safety measures and a more proactive approach to tackling crime under his leadership.

“On behalf of the officers and men of this command, I appreciate the quality leadership that the immediate past CP exhibited while he was here. I want to assure you that we will fit well into the shoes. When you’re in your office, you will receive good news about us,” he said.
