Gunmen Kill MACBAN Chairman in Plateau
Gunmen have killed the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Muhammad Adamu.
Adamu was attacked and killed on Wednesday evening by unidentified assailants.
According to reports, the incident took place at his residence shortly after he broke his fast.
Confirming the killing, the State Chairman of MACBAN, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, strongly condemned the act and urged security agencies to investigate and apprehend those responsible.
“This is an unfortunate situation. We call on security agencies to investigate and fish out those behind this heinous act so that they will face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
A youth leader in the community, Alhaji Danjuma Ibrahim, also confirmed the attack, stating that the deceased’s body had been deposited at the Barkin Ladi General Hospital and was scheduled for burial today (Thursday).
Danjuma condemned the killing and revealed that this was the third time gunmen had targeted the MACBAN chairman, with previous attempts being unsuccessful until this fatal attack.
According to him, “The gunmen attacked him and shot him multiple times. There are bullet wounds on his body. After they shot him, they fled the area.
“Security personnel, including police and soldiers, have responded because we were with them at the hospital when he was rushed there.”
The youth leader described the attack on the MACBAN chairman as unfortunate, explaining that before his death, “he played a vital role in ensuring peace within the Barkin Ladi area”.
“His demise will continue to linger in our memory because of his significance in sustaining peace in the community,” he maintained.
However, when the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, was contacted, he said, “I’m not aware of the incident because we have our channel of communication, so honestly, I’m not aware yet.”
