Ahead of this Saturday’s gubernatorial election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been successfully claimed in Osun State. This figure accounts for 81.50 percent of the total registered voter population.
Mohammed Kudu Haruna, who serves as the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee at INEC, shared these statistics in an official statement. While 2,339,233 individuals are registered to vote, 426,842 cards—or 18.50 percent—remain uncollected. In accordance with standard protocol, these unclaimed documents have been stored securely at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The commission also addressed voters who required replacements for lost, damaged, or defaced cards. Out of those who applied for new documents, 6,101 individuals successfully obtained downloadable versions of their voter cards. Detailed data regarding collections per polling unit is currently available on the INEC website.
INEC confirmed its full commitment to facilitating an honest and transparent election on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The commission extended these assurances to residents, media outlets, civil society groups, and all participating political parties.
