The Joint Task Force North West, known as Operation Fansan Yamma, has initiated Operation Clean Sweep IV to heighten pressure on extremist and criminal factions throughout the North-West region. According to Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Theatre Command’s media officer, this campaign utilizes integrated air and ground assaults to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and block their movement.
On August 12, military personnel from Sector 2 carried out clearance missions near Dutsinma in Katsina State, successfully pushing militants out of their identified strongholds. Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, air strikes targeted terrorist groups gathered on motorcycles in the Anka area. These precision operations killed numerous combatants and scattered the remaining survivors.
A primary goal of this offensive is the systematic removal of the Lakurawa terrorist network. The military aims to prevent these fighters from using border regions or the River Niger and Kainji Lake National Park areas as tactical corridors. By maintaining a proactive stance, Operation Fansan Yamma intends to secure local communities and prevent armed groups from regaining territory or operational momentum.
