General Lucky Irabor, the former Chief of Defence Staff, has publicly advocated for the immediate arrest and prosecution of public figures and politicians who issue inflammatory statements. His remarks were delivered during an appearance on Channels Television on Thursday.
Irabor specifically addressed a recent viral video featuring Senator Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East, in which the legislator encouraged his supporters to harm members of the Accord Party during the lead-up to the state governorship election. The retired General commended the police for questioning the Senator but suggested that the investigation should be more thorough.
Furthermore, Irabor called for authorities to apprehend Islamic clerics Sani Jingir and Ahmad Gumi. He argued that their past public comments have served to incite instability. According to Irabor, holding these individuals accountable is essential to demonstrating that no citizen remains above the law and that inflammatory rhetoric will face legal consequences.
