Authorities have discovered nine corpses along the Wawa-Lumma road in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The individuals were killed while traveling through the region in what is believed to be an ambush by bandits.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, verified that the bodies were retrieved on Wednesday. Security teams were dispatched to the site on Tuesday immediately after reports of the violence surfaced. Joint operations involving police and military units have been initiated to clear the area and enhance local security.
This tragedy occurs shortly after security forces successfully liberated 308 hostages across Kwara and Niger states. That operation included the rescue of 163 people in the Woro community of Kwara State and 145 others from a separate kidnapping event in Niger State.
