The family of Iyun Janet Ajilore, widely known as Saint Janet, recently shared details regarding the musician’s sudden passing. During an interview with Alore TV, her children explained that the Juju and Highlife star experienced sudden chest pain and labored breathing shortly before she died.
Her daughter, Omowunmi, noted that Saint Janet had performed at an overnight concert in Sango, Ogun State, just before her death and appeared to be in good health at the time. After returning home and completing her daily chores, including cooking, the singer began showing signs of distress. Omowunmi observed her mother clutching her chest and struggling to breathe, prompting an urgent trip to the hospital.
Orinayo, her son, confirmed that while medical staff immediately provided oxygen, the singer lost her pulse shortly after arrival. Fola, another daughter, expressed her grief, remembering her mother as a deeply caring individual who prioritized the well-being of others. The family emphasized that the singer had not shown any prior signs of illness.
Managerial staff who worked with the artist corroborated these reports, noting that she performed with her usual high energy and appeared perfectly fine on the day of her passing. A burial committee has been formed by the family, with funeral rites set for August 25 and 26. A period of prayer and thanksgiving is currently underway following the initial announcement of her death by Otunba Femi Davies.
