Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle to Announce Final 23-Man Squad for Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup Qualifiers
Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, is set to announce his final 23-man squad this week in preparation for Nigeria’s critical 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month.
The Malian tactician, who unveiled an extended provisional squad of 39 players last week, will finalize his selection ahead of his first games in charge of the three-time African champions.
Among the standout names in the provisional squad is veteran captain Ahmed Musa, who has been recalled after nearly a year out of the team.
The final squad is expected to be revealed this week, following the conclusion of the Champions League last-16 matches on Wednesday. The team will then regroup in Kigali on Sunday to begin preparations for the upcoming qualifiers.
Currently, the Super Eagles sit fifth in Group C with only three points, having drawn against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, while suffering an unexpected loss to Benin Republic.
The matches against Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 and Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25 are crucial victories for Nigeria to boost their chances of qualifying for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
