A unified security operation involving the Nigerian Navy, Army, Police, and local vigilantes successfully freed 13 captives in Kogi State. The incident occurred on August 10 along the Itobe–Anyigba road in the Ofu Local Government Area. Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho stated that while the rescue was successful, the mission met armed resistance. Sadly, one vigilante lost his life, and a police officer required medical treatment for a gunshot wound. Security personnel are currently working to apprehend the kidnappers who escaped.
Separately, in Rivers State, the Nigerian Navy and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency conducted a strategic raid in the Amahausa area of Bonny. This operation resulted in the arrest of six individuals accused of drug distribution. Authorities seized a significant cache of illegal substances, including methamphetamine, heroin, Cannabis Sativa, and prescription pills. Officials highlighted that these combined efforts are essential to improving national safety and disrupting the operations of criminal organizations.
