The Imole Campaign Council has formally reached out to Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu regarding inflammatory remarks allegedly made by Senator Francis Fadahunsi before the August 15 Osun State gubernatorial race. In a document dated August 12, 2026, the organization highlighted a troubling video that purportedly shows the Osun East senator advocating for lethal violence against Accord Party supporters. The petition claims that Fadahunsi encouraged his followers to kill Accord Party members and declared that voters would be barred from casting ballots, regardless of whether they possessed valid identification.
Labeling these statements as dangerous to the stability and safety of the state, the council has requested that law enforcement authenticate the footage and conduct a formal inquiry into the senator’s conduct. They are pressing for an immediate investigation to determine if the rhetoric has already spurred any physical incidents. Pelumi Olanjegbesi, the legal representative for the council, emphasized that elected officials should not be shielded from scrutiny.
Beyond the inquiry, the council is demanding bolstered security at polling stations and collation centers to protect voters from intimidation. Their goal is to ensure the upcoming election proceeds without harassment, asserting that participation in the democratic process should not come at the risk of personal safety.
