The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially released the personal records and credentials for several prominent figures aiming for the 2027 general elections. Among those included are President Bola Tinubu, as well as presidential hopefuls Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress and Peter Obi, representing the Nigeria Democratic Congress alongside his running mate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso.
This action complies with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, which mandates that the commission must display candidate submissions within 21 days of receipt. This process provides an opportunity for the public and interested parties to review the academic qualifications and supporting documents filed by those running for office. These disclosures arrive shortly before the formal start of the 2027 presidential campaign season, which begins on August 19.
