Adebayo Adedamola, known as Fryo and a former gubernatorial aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, has officially declared his support for Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming August 15, 2026, election.
Although Adedamola was initially nominated by a faction of the PDP, securing 919 votes during the primary in Osogbo, his name was ultimately omitted from the official candidate list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Adedamola stated that his shift in allegiance follows thorough deliberation and an evaluation of the state’s current political landscape.
He has urged his followers and PDP members across the state to rally behind Governor Adeleke. Adedamola emphasized that his choice reflects a commitment to the greater good over individual political goals. He noted that political engagement involves recognizing shifting realities and making tough choices when required. He has already informed key party stakeholders of his new stance.
Addressing the upcoming vote, Adedamola advocated for a peaceful process. He warned against intimidation and violence, asserting that the future of Osun State is more important than any singular election or political party. He encouraged supporters to behave lawfully as they promote the Governor’s campaign.
