The Osun State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stepped forward to support Senator Francis Fadahunsi following accusations that he made inflammatory remarks. In a statement released Wednesday by spokesperson Kola Olabisi, the party argued that Fadahunsi was misrepresented. They claimed that Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party are manipulating the situation for political gain before the upcoming governorship election.
The APC clarified that it opposes violence, asserting that the controversy stems from a manipulated version of the senator’s speech. They suggested that Governor Adeleke’s reaction is motivated by Fadahunsi’s departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Furthermore, the party pointed to recent high-profile endorsements of their candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, as a reason for shifting political dynamics in the region. The APC also criticized the current state administration for its handling of violence in Ijesaland.
Meanwhile, legal counsel representing Olajengbesi has formally challenged the senator. In a letter signed by Hammed Lasisi, they demanded that Fadahunsi retract comments made during recent television appearances on Viable TV and Channels Television. The senator had allegedly questioned Olajengbesi’s origins and accused him of associating with local cult groups. The legal team has given the senator 24 hours to issue an apology and cease these claims, warning of a 10 billion naira defamation lawsuit if their demands are ignored.
