The administration of President Donald Trump reported that it has successfully completed 15 months without releasing any illegal aliens into the U.S. interior, while simultaneously executing over 3 million deportations. According to a Department of State fact sheet, these actions serve to prioritize American citizens and reconstruct an immigration framework that the administration claims was severely compromised under the Biden presidency.
Official statements assert that the border is now effectively closed, with thousands of convicted violent criminals among the 3 million individuals deported since President Trump resumed office. Beyond removals, the government initiated a campaign to strip citizenship from 88 individuals discovered to have obtained their status through fraudulent means.
Fiscal measures have also been enacted, including the termination of public benefits for 1.4 million illegal immigrants and a prohibition on their access to more than twelve healthcare programs funded by taxpayers. Furthermore, visa processing for 75 high-risk nations was suspended to mitigate overstays, while immigration authorities moved to remove tens of thousands of non-citizens from state voter rolls.
The administration has also overhauled the citizenship examination to improve the assessment of an applicant’s grasp of American history and governance. This shift follows an executive order signed during the President’s first week in office, which declared a crisis at the southern border. Meanwhile, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria has issued reminders to visa holders regarding the necessity of legal compliance, warning that violations such as fraud or overstaying can result in immediate deportation and visa revocation.
