Francis Fadahunsi, the Senator for Osun-East, has expressed grave concern regarding the reported deaths of 12 individuals in Ilesa. These casualties include members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Recent reports confirm that shootings in the Igbogi area resulted in three deaths, including a female ward leader, prompting a heightened security presence.
During a Wednesday press briefing, Senator Fadahunsi asserted that the surge in Ilesa’s political violence is a calculated effort to intimidate the electorate ahead of Saturday’s polls. He claimed that over 40 lives have been lost in his district throughout the past year, blaming the state administration for failing to curb these attacks. He argued that instability is being pushed from Ede into his constituency, which serves as an APC stronghold, to suppress voter turnout.
The Senator detailed various violent episodes, including a local government administration dispute that left four dead and 16 injured, as well as an April 2025 incident in Esa-Oke that resulted in four additional fatalities. He specifically named figures such as Solomon Adefioye and accused various government-linked entities of facilitating these criminal acts. Furthermore, he noted that several prominent political figures are currently receiving hospital treatment for injuries related to these events.
In response, Governor Ademola Adeleke has denied these allegations, claiming instead that Fadahunsi is inciting the public against the Accord Party and has requested that police authorities take legal action against the Senator.
