Bashir Ahmad, the former presidential media aide, recently stated that Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, a clergyman based in Plateau State, made inflammatory remarks that eclipsed the recent controversial statements of Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir.
During an event in Kano State last Saturday, Sheikh Jingir defended the All Progressives Congress’s decision to pursue a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2027 elections. He cited the demographic superiority of Muslims as the rationale for his stance. Additionally, he referred to Christians as infidels and asserted that Nigeria is a nation primarily for Muslims, triggering significant public backlash and demands for his prosecution.
Broadcaster Rufai Oseni addressed the incident on social media Tuesday, questioning how the public might have reacted if a Christian leader had uttered similar sentiments. Bashir Ahmad responded to Oseni, suggesting that such comparisons are inappropriate but noting that Reverend Dachomo has previously made comments of a more severe nature. Ahmad concluded by stating that both men’s remarks were improper.
