Mr. Lawal Pedro, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State, has called upon junior employees within the Ministry of Justice to prioritize integrity, professionalism, and collaboration. Speaking at a two-day workshop in Ikeja titled From Potential to Performance, Pedro emphasized that the ministry relies on the contributions of non-lawyer personnel across various sectors, including finance, human resources, and information technology. He reminded staff that their individual efforts directly influence the overall success of the ministry’s mission.
During the event, Pedro stressed the necessity of honesty, accountability, and teamwork, warning that inefficiencies in one department could compromise the entire judicial service delivery process. The workshop is designed to improve competence, emotional intelligence, and workplace conduct among participants.
Hameed Oyenuga, the Permanent Secretary and Solicitor-General, echoed these sentiments, labeling the junior staff as the future of the organization. He urged them to move beyond mere potential and demonstrate excellence by adhering to deadlines and maintaining strict confidentiality. Mrs. Aderinsola Olarewaju, Permanent Secretary of the Citizens’ Mediation Bureau, compared the staff’s contributions to links in a chain, noting that the collective performance of the ministry depends on the reliability of every individual worker.
