A sociopolitical group based in Abia, the Reality Organisation, has criticized the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for threatening to discipline former Governor and current Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. The APC leadership accused Kalu of engaging in activities detrimental to the party, a charge the organization labels as politically motivated. They argue that such measures will only increase internal friction as the 2027 elections approach.
Speaking for the group, Dimgba Okereke clarified that Kalu’s recent television appearance did not constitute an endorsement of Governor Alex Otti or the Labour Party. The controversy stems from Kalu stating that both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Otti would likely win their respective upcoming races. The Reality Organisation maintains that these statements were merely political predictions and professional analysis, not an official show of support for opposition candidates.
The group urged the state APC to treat Kalu’s remarks as a wake-up call for internal improvement. Instead of resorting to intimidation and threats of sanction, the organization suggested that leadership should focus on addressing party weaknesses and unifying the base. They further claimed that the current state leadership is applying selective standards, pointing out that previous negative predictions regarding Kalu were met with silence.
Finally, the Reality Organisation condemned any attempt to treat the party as a private enterprise. They warned that if the trend of exclusion and high-handedness persists, dedicated party members might be forced to establish an alternative working committee to ensure inclusive leadership. The group concluded that the party should focus on grassroots mobilization and internal reconciliation rather than disciplinary theatrics.
