Vitor Matos Holds No Grudges Ahead of Ethan Galbraith Reunion

Vitor Matos has expressed no animosity toward Ethan Galbraith as Swansea City prepares to face the midfielder’s new team, Stoke City, in their Championship opener.

Vitor Matos has stated that he bears no ill will toward Ethan Galbraith as the midfielder prepares to face his former club. Swansea City is scheduled to play Stoke City in their Championship opener this Saturday at the bet365 Stadium.

Galbraith moved to Stoke this past July, despite enjoying a productive 2025-26 campaign with the Swans, during which he was offered a contract extension. Swansea, who initially signed the Northern Ireland international for £1.5m, ultimately sold him to the Potters for £10m. Matos noted that the decision for the 25-year-old to leave was a personal one and suggested the player is best suited to explain his motives.

During his tenure at Swansea, Galbraith made 44 appearances and scored four goals, frequently adapting to various positions including right-back. Although Matos previously expressed a desire to keep the former Manchester United talent in Wales long-term, he emphasized that the transfer was a positive outcome for all involved parties. The Swansea manager maintained that he is not disappointed by the departure, focusing instead on the team’s future success.
