NIS Arrests 378 Illegal Immigrants in Ogun

The Nigeria Immigration Service has arrested 376 illegal immigrants engaged in fraudulent activities across Ogun State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the agency revealed that the suspects were apprehended in their hideouts during a joint operation conducted by officers from the Ogun State Command and Zone A headquarters in the Lambe/Ajuwon Akute areas.

Ogun State Comptroller Muhammed Akadri stated that the operation was based on credible intelligence regarding their activities.

“After profiling the suspects, we discovered that 334 of them are Cameroonian, 27 Ghanaian, 26 Beninese, and one Togolese. They consist of 251 males and 125 females, all between the ages of 25 and 30,” Akadri said.

He stated that none of the arrested individuals possessed valid travel documents or residence permits.

According to Akadri, the group consists of 251 males and 125 females, all between the ages of 25 and 30.

Investigations revealed that the foreigners entered the country through unauthorized routes, and none could provide residence cards or any form of travel documents when questioned.

Akadri further disclosed that the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has directed that necessary steps be taken to repatriate them to their respective countries of origin.
