Swansea-born wing Lisa Neumann has been recalled to the Wales extended training squad, which consists of 46 players preparing for the upcoming WXV Global Series. The 32-year-old, currently a free agent following her exit from Harlequins in July, missed most of the 2026 Six Nations after sustaining a hamstring injury in the opening match against Scotland.
Head coach Sean Lynn has introduced 14 uncapped players to the roster. This group will prepare for September home fixtures against South Africa and the USA, followed by two October Tests in Japan. Among the new faces are Lily Hawkins, Amy Williams, Kelsie Webster, Stella Orrin, and Lucy Issac, all of whom recently performed in an unofficial win over the Barbarians.
Lynn noted that this squad represents a fresh start for the new season as they tackle the demanding WXV campaign. Players have been undergoing individual training blocks to meet high expectations ahead of the final selection process. The squad selection heavily incorporates talent from the Celtic Challenge, featuring 37 players who have represented Brython Thunder and Gwalia Lightning. This includes new recruits Ffion Williams, Crystal James, and Shannelle Williams, alongside the injury return of Savannah Picton Powell. This development follows two difficult seasons for Wales, during which the team finished at the bottom of the Six Nations table.
