Jordan Nobbs, who earned 71 England caps and secured 12 major trophies during her time with Arsenal, believes guiding Newcastle United to the Women’s Super League for the first time would complete her professional goals. The 33-year-old, a native of Durham who began her career at Sunderland, joined Newcastle last year as a marquee signing. She noted that many players from her generation were forced to relocate south as the sport became professionalized, making a successful return to the North East a deeply personal ambition.
Newcastle finished sixth in the second tier last season. While Nobbs acknowledged that frequent draws hindered their progress, she remains optimistic about the team’s direction under manager Tanya Oxtoby. Following an active transfer period, the squad is focused on the clear objective of promotion. Nobbs is also adjusting to her role as an experienced leader within the dressing room, a position her teammates have playfully embraced by labeling her a legend, helping her balance mentorship with her on-field duties.
Newcastle United begins their upcoming campaign on 6 September with a home fixture against Wolves.
