Rauf Aregbesola claims marital fidelity throughout his marriage

Former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola shared that his marital fidelity is tied to his faith and political aspirations as the ADC ramps up its campaign for the upcoming governorship election.

Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), recently stated that he has remained exclusively committed to his wife, Sherifat, since their wedding. The former Osun State governor shared this detail while speaking to supporters during an ADC campaign event in the Ejigbo Local Government Area.

Addressing the crowd in Yoruba, Aregbesola explained that his faithfulness stems from a deep fear of God and a solemn vow he made to himself. He revealed that he framed this marital loyalty as a personal challenge while seeking divine favor for his political goals. During his speech, he recounted praying to God, asserting that his commitment to his spouse is a standard few others can match.

Aregbesola held the office of Osun State governor from 2010 to 2018. Currently, he is guiding the ADC in its attempt to win the upcoming gubernatorial race scheduled for August 15, 2026. The political landscape for this election includes incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, and Najeem Folasayo Salaam, who is the candidate representing the ADC.
